Mercedes and Diablo
Mercedes and Diablo
Diablo was a beatiful male born to Mercedes... although we had a vet check him on day 2 we did not have an IGG test to check his level of immunogobins... after a severe rain storm on his 21st day of life that happened during the night, Mom got separated from baby and in the morning Diablo was clearly weakened due to the stress... we had the vet come back...she ran an IV and he seemed to do better but in the evening he crashed again so we rushed him to the nearest animal hospital where he later passed away...so sad!

Mercedes died at 5 years old from Cancer.

What presence about him....

He had no name when we met him at Balfour Farm in CT. and today I still cry when I think about him. Life was going well until one day in December when he was around 2 years old...when my husband came home he found all the boys beating Braveheart to the ground and not letting him up... my husband tried to get him out of there but the boys were turning on him... after a phone call a burst of agenaline we managed to drag him out of the pasture, settle him down in a quiet place and called the vet. We soon found out that Braveheart had a heart defect where his heart wasn't growing with his body... he would have to stand with his neck held down because his heart couldn't pump the blood to his head. I spent alot of time with him then... he passed on January 31st @ 7:00 PM... I cried for a week!

and still cry today....
Pansy
Pansy
- April 23, 2009

Pansy came along with Sinbad and Jingles from a local family that were moving down south... Pansy was a quiet gal. One day in December 2008, I saw a hole in her utter... the vet and I treated it as a open wound until we could get test results back and determine what was going on... after a few weeks... it was determined that the best thing to do was remove the utters - a mastecomy... we arranged the surgery thru Cornell University in NY... blood test results showed us without a blood donor Pansy could not have the surgery needed... so we started with the 3 goats on the farm...but no match... some friends let us test their 3 goats and all came back matching... so we rented a van... loaded Pansy and the donor goat up and drove them to NY... a 6 hour drive each way... we got home late that night... but we prayed all would go well... in a week's time... all had went well and we made the trip back to pickup the girls.... recovery was going well and we were optimistic that we had made it thru the worst of it...

until one day, I noticed a part of the surgery line was not healing properly... and then the holes started again... the biopsy results from the removed tissue were cancerous... we had decided to put her down on the weekend... but Pansy gifted me, so I wouldn't have to carry the weight of that decision... she headed for the rainbow bridge on that Friday... God bless her... she is missed!! Without this long story and adventure I would have never gotten to know the really Pansy... She was awesome!!...

If Annie were human, she would have been Autistic - she was 10+ years old but she was still a little girl in her mind... she would lead the group in pronging as all fell in like a wagon train near dusk. She was an Auntie to all.... and she will be missed!
